GOD, when?

Love stories get me excited, in movies or in real life. Three months ago, my friend and sister married the love of her life!!
I was honoured to have had a front row seat as every season of this love story unfolded.

2016 to 2017

We were both studying in France but in two different cities.
We had long and honest conversations via Skype and would talk about life, school , boys , God and everything in between.
I always looked forward to Skype calls from Ivana, thankfully the hostel’s Wi-Fi connection rarely disappointed us.

The few times I went to visit her in Strasbourg or she came over to Nancy, we barely slept, we would spend hours talking all through the night and encouraging each other with our testimonies. We were both striving to live for Christ and whenever it got tough, we would encourage each other and pray for each other.

We had had our share of situationships and disappointments with the opposite sex but we were sure God was working it all for our good.
That season was difficult for both of us but God gave us strength and wisdom to move on.

Ivana mentioned that she liked someone and they were spending a lot of time together. This gentleman had made his intentions clear from the very start, he was hoping to date her and eventually marry her. We prayed about him and asked God to have His way.

News Flash!!!

Ivana and Stephen started courting and making plans for their wedding. Ivana and I spent hours on the phone talking about wedding plans and details. I willingly accepted to help with the wedding coordination and preparation.

Ivana, Maame (Ivana’s bestfriend) and I spent the night together in a hotel the day before the wedding, we were too excited, we slept after 11:30 pm.
At dawn, I woke up to pray and couldn’t help but thank God for Ivana and Stephen, it was happening for real!!!
Tears of joy trickled down my cheeks, we were going to witness the beginning of a blissful marriage between two people who had chosen to honour God with their bodies and in their relationship.

The wedding was a beautiful showcase of God’s faithfulness and His unfailing love.
Ivana and Stephen chose to trust God with their relationship and it ended in praise!
I pray that God who wrote this beautiful love story will be the centre of their marriage in Jesus’ name.

Patiently wait for your life partner but feel pressured by Whatsapp status updates and Instagram posts of people in relationships?
You don’t remember the last time you went to the cinema or went on a road trip with someone you were dating. You have been single for so long and you are wondering what’s wrong with you.

Focus on building healthy relationships with your family and friends.
Spend time doing what you love; sports, cooking, reading, volunteering, traveling etc. There are reading clubs, group travel packages, pop-up events, online learning communities and many interesting activities you can engage in.

Do not give in to pressure from social media, friends, family or even yourself.
Rejoice with others who have found love but do not look down on yourself because you are single.
Build your character and work at being a better person.
Spend time with God.
Enjoy this season while it lasts.

Are you in love with the idea of being married and taking pictures?
Or you are ready to fully commit to your partner, love the person selflessly and daily honour God in your marriage or relationship?
‘God when?’ but if God responds with ,’Now!’ will you be ready?

GOD WHEN?

The next time you feel like typing ‘#GOD WHEN?’ under a lovey dovey  post of a cute couple in Santorini Greece, rather whisper a prayer saying ,‘GOD PREPARE ME FOR MY PARTNER.’

When the time is right, everything will work out but while you wait, keep working on yourself.

Much love,
Esasina.

  1. Amen 🙏🏿. I definitely agree. I’ve never asked God when in regards to finding a future partner but yes I have regards to finding a job after university is where my when’s dance in my throat and arise to my mouth. Its not easy while in the wilderness but God’s timing is the best. The waiting season is a time of preparation but it matters our perspective while we wait. I love how you mentioned the next time you feel like typing #God When under a lovey dovey post of a cute couple in Santorini Greece 😂. Oh Esasina. Thank you for this word of encouragement. God bless you 😊

    • This blog post is for us all Sis. The struggle is real but we will be fine. Yes, that’s another angle, we always ask God questions but are we ready and preparing our hearts and mind for his answer?
