Hello Everyone! I hope you are doing well.
I have actually missed you all.
Happy African Union to all Africans here on my blog.
Today I am giving a big shoutout to my readers in Ghana, United Kingdom, South Africa, France, Hong Kong and Nigeria. I’ve had the most readers from these countries this month and I am thankful.
Thank you to all my readers across the world, you are the reason I grab my phone to type my thoughts on blogpost ideas even when I’ve had a long day.You are an integral part of my blogging journey and I love you for sticking with me.🤗🤗❤️❤️
Last year,I made a mental note to look out for Instagram accounts that would help me create better content.I followed certain accounts like @tribecalledena , @everythingnaart, @thedigitaltinker , @lola.akw and a few others.
I strongly believe that the decision to be intentional and improve upon the content I create was not RANDOM AT ALL!
In March, Amin, the person behind @everythingnaart shared a post in her IG story about a free mentorship programme for female creatives being organized by @forcreativegirls , Amin suggested that we specify our preferred mentor during the application process.
That evening,I was unwell and had taken a few days off work.I kept hearing the Holy Spirit say “Kwor, shoot your shot!”
I visited the account clicked on the link and applied for the mentorship programme. I chose Amin of @everythingnaart as my preferred mentor because she creates content that keeps her audience engaged and informed. She shares her highs and lows with her audience (the kind of transparency you can learn from.)
A few weeks after…
I received an email with the subject; CONGRATULATIONS…….
I did a quick victory dance and I just couldn’t stop grinning.I was super excited about the opportunity to learn from Amin.
I messaged Amin on Instagram and told her about the email. She was happy to hear from me and explained that she loved my website a.k.a this blog💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾 and thought it would be great to mentor me (FYI there were so many other applicants that chose her as their preferred MENTOR). I was really humbled and thankful because if I had not started blogging, maybe this opportunity might have passed me by.
Sometimes God puts a burden on our hearts to venture into the unknown or get out of our comfort zone. There are days when we want to quit and we feel overwhelmed, but remember, all things work together for the good of them that love the Lord. When you feel like quitting or you feel overwhelmed, remember that there are better days ahead.
It’s been over two months and I am learning so much from Amin. She gives the best advice on content creation, branding and marketing.
Every session has been worth the time and effort.
The mentorship programme is not over yet but I can confidently say that I have learnt so much already and Amin has been an amazing mentor despite her very busy schedule.
So to anyone out there contemplating whether to make a move concerning a job application,a scholarship,a mentorship programme,a partnership , a business idea,a step of faith, whatever it is,
I pray you find the courage to SHOOT YOUR SHOT when you should.
It’s better to try than to regret not trying.
What’s the worse that could happen?
